NJOY SPIRITS DISTILLERY – FIRST VISIT

My wife Sharon and I love finding unique spots in Florida to visit on the weekend. One weekend in June, we decided to visit NJOY SPIRITS DISTILLERY, a Florida Maker of 100% Rye Whiskey (100 Proof Wild Buck Whiskey), Sugar Cane Juice 100 Proof Mermaid Rum, and 150 Proof “Ryes In Shine” Moonshine.

You have to load your navigation system with 13243 Commercial Way, Brooksville, FL, to get to NJoy Spirits Distillery. Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps attempt to take you through a gated community you can’t cut through (NJoy is working with the navigation company to fix this bug).

This address is the entrance to the “Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area,” off Highway 19. Once you enter the reserve (You DO NOT need to pay the reserve entrance fee if you are going to NJOY SPIRITS), follow the NJOY signs for 5 Miles to the Entrance of Goff Ranch.

NJOY SPIRITS DISTILLERY is a beautiful operation. It has a bar, distillery barn, and cleared land on their 80-acre Goff Ranch. The cleared land is where the Sugar Cane for their Mermaid Rum and the Rye for their 100 Proof Wild Buck Whiskey and 150 Proof “Ryes In Shine” Moonshine grows. The Distillery Barn is where the Sugar Cane and Rye is turned into the smoothest Whiskey, Rum, and Moonshine you will ever taste!

Also, notice on their website (https://njoyspirits.com/) all of the annual awards they have won. Any year you don’t see an award was because they didn’t have the time to enter.

The two owners, Natalie and Kevin Goff, run the day-to-day operation. On any given Saturday or Sunday, from 11-6 when they are open, they will both be giving $8 tours (adults only; ticket prices 100% credited towards any bottle purchase) and running the Tasting Room and Store. Besides being able to sample their liquors, they also sell various local-made products, plus t-shirts, liquor glasses, and more in their Store.

When the weather cools a bit in the fall, they hold concerts on their outdoor stage with seating. Tickets quickly sell out.

The visit can be as little as an hour or as long as you like. The bartender is Robin, who serves excellent drinks and snacks, and is the NJOY SPIRITS photographer.

We’re about out of the Mermaid Rum we bought, so a return trip in July is a “sure thing.” We could buy the Wild Buck Whiskey and Mermaid Rum at a local liquor store, but the drive and scenery are a great local weekend afternoon trip.

Hope to see you there!
