CHAI HOT TODDY COCKTAIL: WILD BUCK WHISKEY
A hot toddy can be a warm pick-me-up drink on a cold day. Historically, a hot toddy has been used to ease throat and chest pain during colds or as a relaxing beverage before bedtime. You can create a classic hot toddy or tailor your hot toddy to your personal preferences by choosing a base liquid, alcohol, and the flavorings that best suit your palate.
I’m not going to tell you that a Chai Hot Toddy will cure your cold, but this indulgence in a hot toddy should ease some of your cold symptoms. There are lemon and honey to soothe your throat and loosen congestion, and enough whiskey to gently help you on your way to slumber. The chai doesn’t do anything, but it sure does make it taste good.
INGREDIENTS: (CHAI HOT TODDY COCKTAIL) – 4 Servings
- 2 cups water
- 4 chai tea bags (or ½ cup loose-leaf chai tea)
- 1½ cups milk
- ¼ cup honey
- 8 teaspoons lemon juice
- ¼ cup sugar
- 6 ounces “Wild Buck American Rye Whiskey“
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Ground cinnamon, as needed for finishing
DIRECTIONS:(CHAI HOT TODDY COCKTAIL)
- In a teapot or saucepan, bring the water to a simmer. Add the 4 tea bags to the simmering pot. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Pour the hot tea water into a suitably sized pot or carafe.
- Add the Wild Buck American Rye Whiskey, milk, lemon juice, sugar, vanilla extract and honey. Stir until the honey has disappeared into the hot water. Taste, and add 1 teaspoon honey for more sweetness, and/or 1 teaspoon more lemon juice for more zing. Add the cinnamon and taste. Add more to your taste needs.
- Garnish with a lemon round and cinnamon stick (if using).
