WHISKEY SOUR COCKTAIL – WILD BUCK WHISKEY

A sour is a traditional family of mixed drinks. Sours belong to one of the old families of original cocktails and are described by Jerry Thomas in his 1862 book How to Mix Drinks.Sours are mixed drinks containing a base liquor, lemon or lime juice, and a sweetener (simple syrup or orgeat syrup). Egg whites are also included in some sours.

A whiskey sour is a mixed beverage that can also be made into a Boston sour by adding a dash of egg white, lemon juice, sugar, and bourbon whiskey. It is shaken and served either straight or over ice. A maraschino cherry and half an orange slice are the customary garnishes.

The Ward 8 is a whiskey sour variation made with rye whiskey, orange and lemon juices, and grenadine syrup for sweetness. This version does not include egg whites.

INGREDIENTS: (WHISKEY SOUR COCKTAIL)

• 2 oz Wild Buck Whiskey
• 3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
• 3/4 oz Simple Syrup
• 1/2 Orange Wheel (for serving)
• 1 Maraschino Cherry (for serving)

DIRECTIONS:(WHISKEY SOUR COCKTAIL)

• Combine Wild Buck Whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.
• Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.
• Strain cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer. Alternately use a slotted spoon into an old-fashioned or rocks glass filled with ice.
• Garnish with orange wheel and cherry.
